Party Monster

Don't dream it. Be it.

A movie about being fabulous. The only true cult-movie the 2000's have given us as far as i'm concerned. The tagline says "good. evil. fun". It's all of that and so much more. To the first-time viewer, it's a meaningless and chaotic mix of people and places. To those patient enough to read through the lines and discover this movie bit by bit, it's a combination of sharp irony pointed at the shallowness of the so-called "celebrities" and lucid reflections on a world that fell prey to its own exuberance and glamour. I felt this move like an absolute experience. Michael Alig's words - "we don't do, we are!" - sum it up perfectly: it's more than another entertaining weekend flick. It's a movie about a flamboyant lifestyle and an everlasting quest for "money, success, fame, glamour", it's a movie that points a sarcastic eye on an embarassingly shallow contemporary society, it's a movie which finally admits the over-importance of the package and the lack of interest for the content in our world. Though the events depicted take place in the 1980's, they are more than topical even today. All-in-all, Party Monster is a must-see.

I want you to teach me how to be fabulous.

I'm fed up cu filmele "postmoderne" care sunt "ironice" la adresa "societăţii contemporane" da' I will give it a try...

incearca si Hedwig and the angy inch si Velvet Goldmine. impreuna formeaza seria celor 3 filme glittery and sort of fabulous.
